Why 1121 Basmati White Carries the Highest Base Price

Milling yield drives price. Raw milling, paddy husked and polished directly without parboiling, recovers 58 to 62% whole kernels. Parboiled sella recovers 68 to 72% because soaking and steaming hardens the kernel against the polisher. Lower yield means more paddy consumed per MT of finished rice, and that cost passes through to FOB. 1121 White ships at $1,165 to $1,205 per MT against $1,095 to $1,135 for 1121 Sella Basmati Rice. Retail demand also pulls white higher: UAE and UK premium shelf accepts only the pearly raw-milled finish.

How 1121 Basmati White Cooks

Cooked 1121 Basmati White rice on a dark plate showing separated, elongated grains

Soak 20 to 30 minutes before cooking. Water ratio 1 cup rice to 1.75 cups water. Bring to boil, reduce to lowest simmer, cover, cook 15 to 18 minutes, rest 5 minutes off heat. The 8.3mm raw kernel elongates to 22mm+, a 2.5x+ ratio, the longest of any commercial rice. Texture is fluffy with separate non-sticky grains. Aroma is the most pronounced of the four processing types because no parboiling step degrades the volatile aroma compounds. Yield: 1 kg cooked produces 3.2 to 3.5 kg.

1121 Basmati White Milling Grades

Three milling grades available, priced inside the $1,165 to $1,205 band:

  • Reasonably Well Milled. Bran removed, natural finish, not pearly white. Best fit: food service, institutional. Base of the price band.
  • Extra Well Milled. Thorough bran removal, clean white appearance. Best fit: mid-tier retail.
  • Silky Polished. Water-polished pearly finish, color sorted for visual uniformity. Best fit: premium retail (UAE, UK, EU branded shelf). Top of the price band.

We do not use "Well Milled". That grade name is non-standard.

Aged 1121 White, 12 to 18 months in climate-controlled storage at the mill, commands a $40 to $80/MT premium. Aging tightens the kernel, drives further elongation, and intensifies aroma. GCC retail specifically requests aged stock; UK and EU branded retail accepts both. Storage carry cost is $15 to $20 per MT per cycle. See aged vs new crop 1121 Basmati.

1121 Basmati White Rice FAQs

What is the FOB Karachi price for 1121 basmati white rice?
1121 Basmati White Rice ships FOB Karachi at $1,165 to $1,205 per MT in 2026. The spread reflects milling grade (Reasonably Well Milled at the low end, Silky Polished at the high end), bag size (50 kg PP woven cheapest, 5 kg BOPP retail bags highest), and aged versus new crop. White carries the highest base price among the four 1121 processing types because whole-kernel milling yield is 58-62%, compared to 68-72% for sella. Confirmed quotes are valid for 48 hours and lock against the day's paddy and exchange rate. See current numbers on the live prices page.
What is the MOQ for 1121 white basmati rice?
Minimum order is 2 x 20' FCL, which works out to roughly 52 MT (each 20' container loads 25 to 27 MT depending on bag size and stuffing pattern). Pakistan rice ships only in 20' FCL, never 40'. Mixed FCLs are possible. One container of 1121 White plus one of Sella or Steam, provided each variant clears the per-line minimum. Below 52 MT we cannot quote against FOB Karachi; smaller volumes go through regional distributors. Pre-shipment inspection by SGS, Bureau Veritas, or Intertek is included subject to the 5-FCL inspection threshold.
What payment terms does HAS Rice Pakistan accept for 1121 white?
Two terms: L/C at sight (100% irrevocable Letter of Credit, preferred for first orders and Saudi/Iraq buyers), or T/T 30/70 (30% advance against pro-forma, 70% against scanned BL copy before originals release). We do not accept CAD (Cash Against Documents) and we do not quote vague "TT" terms. The 30/70 split is locked. Both routes settle in USD. L/C beneficiary and confirming bank details ship with the pro-forma invoice once specs, port, and quantity are agreed.
Is 1121 white basmati available in 25 kg and 5 kg retail bags?
Yes. Standard wholesale packaging is 50 kg PP woven and 25 kg PP or BOPP woven (500-540 and 1,000-1,080 bags per 20' FCL respectively). Retail packaging is 10 kg and 5 kg in BOPP laminate or non-woven. Minimum bag size we run is 5 kg. We do not pack smaller. Inner poly liner is included on 5 and 10 kg bags and available at extra cost on 25 and 50 kg. Custom print minimums: 15,000 bags BOPP, 5,000 bags non-woven, 20,000 standup pouches. Private label requires 5 x 20' FCL minimum across SKUs.
Which markets buy 1121 basmati white rice the most?
1121 White dominates UAE retail (Carrefour, LuLu, Spinneys private label), UK South Asian retail (Wembley, Birmingham, Bradford wholesale chains), and EU branded retail through Rotterdam (Netherlands, Germany, Belgium). These markets demand the bright pearly finish and maximum aroma that only raw milling delivers. Sella's golden tint is rejected at premium retail shelf. Saudi Arabia and Iraq buy proportionally more sella because of shelf-life and reheat performance, but high-end Riyadh retail still imports 1121 White in 5 kg bags. See country-specific guides: import 1121 Basmati to UAE and 1121 Basmati for the UK.
How long does 1121 white basmati take to cook and what does it yield?
1121 White cooks in 15 to 18 minutes after a 20 to 30 minute soak. Water ratio is 1 cup rice to 1.75 cups water (slightly less than non-basmati varieties because of the elongation behavior). Cooked grain reaches 22mm+ from an 8.3mm raw starting length. An elongation ratio of 2.5x or more, the longest of any commercial rice. Texture is fluffy with separate, non-sticky grains; aroma is the most pronounced of the four processing types because no parboiling step degrades the volatile compounds. One kg cooked yields approximately 3.2 to 3.5 kg, depending on water and altitude.
What is the shelf life and storage requirement for 1121 white?
1121 Basmati White has a 12-month shelf life in original packaging stored cool, dry, and away from direct sunlight. This is the shortest among the four 1121 types because the bran layer is fully removed. Sella and golden sella reach 18 months because parboiling stabilizes the kernel, and steam reaches 15 months. Aged 1121 White (12 to 18 months in climate-controlled storage at the mill) commands a $40 to $80/MT premium and delivers further elongation and stronger aroma. GCC retail specifically requests aged stock. New crop (harvested October to December, available from January) ships at the base price band.
